Denton Headshot Photographer

Denton Texas Headshot Photography

Professional headshots in Denton. You don’t have to be photogenic. That part’s my job.

Something finally made this urgent.

A new role, a new license, a website going live, a conference program with a deadline on it, or just the slow realization that the photo you’ve been using is four years and one haircut old.

And now you have to get your picture taken, which you don’t love.

That’s the part almost everyone tells me some version of. “I’m so awkward.” “I never know what to do with my hands.” “I’ve never taken a good photo in my life.”

Here’s the thing: that’s not a you problem. Being at ease in front of a camera is not a personality trait some people were born with. It’s a thing a photographer creates, with direction, in real time. If you’ve had a bad experience before, you were probably left standing there being told to relax, which is the least relaxing instruction in the English language.

You don’t need to know how to pose. You need someone telling you exactly what to do, the whole time.

What you'll walk away with

A photo that looks like you on a good day. Not a stiffer, shinier, stranger version of you.

That’s a lower bar than most headshot marketing claims and a much harder one to actually hit, because it means the photo has to carry something recognizable about how you are with people. That’s mostly about catching you between directions rather than during them.

You’ll get:

Images that work everywhere you need them. Website, LinkedIn, a speaker bio, a press kit, a listing, a department page. Cropped and sized so you’re not trying to make one square photo do six jobs.

Retouching that doesn’t erase you. I take out the temporary stuff (a blemish, a stray hair, a shirt wrinkle). I leave the permanent stuff. Your face should still be your face.

More than one look. Different backgrounds and a change of expression, so you’re not using the identical photo in every context for the next three years.

Who I photograph in Denton

Most of my Denton sessions fall into one of these, and each one wants a slightly different photo:

Realtors. Your face is on the sign, the card, the postcard, and every listing. It’s doing more selling than almost anything else you own, and it should look like the person who shows up to the door.

Faculty, researchers, and grad students. UNT and TWU mean a lot of people here need a photo for a department page, a conference program, a book jacket, or a grant application. Academic headshots have their own quiet standard: credible and approachable, not corporate-glossy.

Therapists, counselors, and private practice. Someone is deciding whether to trust you with something hard, off one photo, often at two in the morning. Warmth matters more than polish, and that’s a specific thing to shoot for.

Attorneys and consultants. Referral partners and recruiters look at your photo before they read a word of your bio.

Small business owners. Denton runs on people knowing people. Your photo ends up in the chamber directory, on a panel slide, in the local paper.

Teams and staff. If your whole office needs headshots, I’ll photograph everyone in one block so they actually look like they belong on the same page, instead of six different photos from six different years.

What a session actually looks like

We talk first. Before you book, we get on the phone or trade a few emails about what the photo is for. A law firm bio and an author’s website are not the same photo, and sorting that out after you’re in front of the camera is how people end up with something generic.

Plan on about 45 minutes. The studio is here in Denton and parking is easy. Most people come on a work morning and are back at their desk before they’re missed.

Bring two or three outfit options. We’ll look at them together and I’ll tell you honestly which one photographs best. I’ll send a short guide when you book so you’re not guessing the night before.

I direct you the entire time. Where to put your weight, what to do with your hands, where to look, when to breathe. You will never be standing there wondering what you’re supposed to be doing. This is the part people dread and it’s the part I’m actually good at.

You see the images before you leave. We narrow them down together, so you’re not sitting alone in a gallery later trying to decide which version of your own face is the right one.

Retouched files land in your inbox within a week. Usually sooner. If you’re up against a deadline, say so and I’ll work around it.

Denton headshot sessions are $250.

That includes the session, the direction, and your retouched final images. No sitting fee, plus per-image pricing, plus a retouching upcharge. I don’t do that.

Team and corporate rates are per person and come down with group size. Tell me how many people and I’ll put a number together.

I’ve been photographing people for about twenty years. I’m also an oil painter, which sounds like a fun fact but genuinely changes how I shoot. I’m reading light on a face the same way I’d read it on a canvas, and I’m looking for what makes a specific person recognizable rather than running everyone through the same formula.

I’m based here in Denton, where I also homeschool my two daughters, which is to say I understand a packed calendar and I won’t waste your morning.

Let's get this off your to-do list

You’ve been meaning to update this photo for a while. Most people have.

Tell me what it’s for and roughly when you need it, and I’ll tell you what I’d recommend.
