What does your company do? What do you do, specialize in or excel at? What makes your service or product special?
I specialize in gray coverage and natural looking, dimensional color. I’m all about collaborating with my clients to create beautiful, approachable hair- the kind you can make sexy on date night yet appropriate for your Monday morning Zoom meeting
What’s your story? How did you get to where you are in business or how was your business started?
After nearly a decade in a large, busy salon I didn’t fit in anymore. I wanted to spend less time worrying about how many clients I could pack into my schedule & more time connecting with the people in my chair. I envisioned a cozy, inviting environment where all my guests’ comforts were in reach, with minimum foot traffic & distractions… I wanted to create a “Cheers” for hair. In 2015 I opened BOURBON, a tiny, unpretentiousness salon where I could focus on each guest’s unique needs.
What impact are you trying to have with your business?
I believe beauty is about self care, not being part of a scene. I want to create a salon experience that focuses on boosting self confidence.
What is the piece of advice you’d give another woman in business?
Create a support team! You can’t be good at everything to do it all. Focus on what you do best and feeds your entrepreneurial soul… find others to do the rest!
My biggest challenge prior to my photoshoot with Jess was finding images for my social media and website that felt and looked professional, yet felt approachable and real. I felt like I was wasting a lot of time trying to make stock images work and that potential new clients couldn’t get a feel for my business or my personality.
After my photoshoot, I was able to build a pretty sweet website! Seriously, I had images that really spoke to new clients and gave them an idea of my salon and who I was before they ever stepped through my door. If you want customers to understand who you are and to connect with you, get off the fence and book your shoot!
